At-Large Representative Joshua Meert Announces Presidency Campaign For UPUA

Joshua Meert has added his name to the UPUA ballot, running for student government president with Samuel Conway as his running mate.
Meert, a political science major and at-large representative, said he’s choosing to enter the race because he has “witnessed firsthand the incredible spirit, resilience and and passion that define our university.” While being a THON Chair for Club Dodgeball and his involvement in public advocacy, Meert says the Penn State community is “truly special”.
“Alongside Sam, I aim to champion affordability, accessibility, and student well-being; pushing for policies that support mental health resources, financial aid, campus sustainability, and student government transparency,” Meert wrote.
His running mate Sam Conway states he hopes to “strengthen student advocacy, empower new ideas and ensure that every voice is heard”. Conway, a junior cites the importance of being the son of educator as it’s shown him first hand “how institutions can either uplift or exclude the community they serve”.
Meert and Conway are now the third pair to enter the race for UPUA President and Vice Presidency race. The pair are now in competition against Mike Fowler and Lindgren as well as Rasha Elwakil and Fletcher Port.
Registration to run for a UPUA position will close at 5 p.m. on March 24, and elections will be held on April 2.
