Slovenian Foward Sasa Ciani Commits To Penn State Hoops

Penn State basketball has gained a commitment from Slovenian prospect Sasa Ciani, the team announced Saturday morning.

The 6’9″, 240-pounder spent last season with the University of Illinois-Chicago in the Missouri Valley Conference. In 27 games, Ciani averaged 9.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.5 blocks. His 7.6 rebounds per game led UIC and were second in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Nova Gorica, Slovenia, native was an efficient shooter throughout his sophomore season with the Flames, shooting 53.3% from the field and 30.8% from behind the arc.

Ciani played his freshman season with Xavier, where he appeared in 31 games, averaging 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds. He helped see the Musketeers to the National Invitation Tournament. The forward has two years of eligibility remaining.

The former Flame is the second Slovenian to commit to Penn State this week after Tibor Mirtic announced his intentions to join the Nittany Lions less than a week ago.
