Penn State Women’s Volleyball Drops One Spot To No. 13 In Latest AVCA Poll

Penn State women’s volleyball fell one spot to No. 13 in the AVCA Poll on Monday. The Nittany Lions swept Bucknell with ease last week in their only match since being ranked No. 12 in the country.
Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s squad is joined in the top-25 by fellow Big Ten schools, No. 1 Nebraska, No.7 Wisconsin, No. 11 Purdue, No. 12 Minnesota, and No. 19 USC.
Penn State has had a tumultuous start to its 2025 season. The defending champs are 4-3, with losses to multiple ranked teams, and star setter Izzy Starck is no longer with the program, announcing her departure the night her old team raised its championship banner at Rec Hall. Starck led the country with 1,483 assists a season ago.
The Nittany Lions began the season as the No. 2 team in the land, but have since fallen to No. 13, its lowest ranking to date this year.
No. 5 Pitt comes to Rec Hall for Penn State’s next match, a highly anticipated preseason in-state showdown at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17. The match will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
