Penn State Men’s Soccer’s Jonathan Evans & Van Danielson Earn Big Ten Honors

Despite a disappointing season for Penn State men’s soccer head coach Jeff Cook’s squad, two Nittany Lions earned postseason accolades from the Big Ten on Thursday.

Standout freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Evans earned a spot on the All-Freshman team. The Collegeville, Pennsylvania, native won two Big Ten weekly honors this season. Evans finished second in the Big Ten in saves, with 42, and saves per match, with 4.2 an outing.

It’s the third straight year a freshman from Penn State has been named to the conference All-Freshman team.

Redshirt senior Van Danielson was named a Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree in his last season for the Nittany Lions. Over his career in Happy Valley, Danielson played in 57 matches and scored 12 goals. The Columbia, Maryland, native notched two assists this season.

The Nittany Lions did not make the postseason this year, finishing the campaign with a 5-8-4 record.
