Penn State football is going bowling.

The Nittany Lions are set to face an ACC opponent in the Pinstripe Bowl on Saturday, December 27, per On3’s Brett McMurphy.

Penn State finished the 2025 season 6-6 by rattling off three consecutive wins against Michigan State, Nebraska, and Rutgers under Terry Smith to close out the regular season. Despite all of the outside noise regarding Penn State’s head coaching search, Smith’s main goal as the interim boss was to secure bowl eligibility.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Yankee Stadium for their first trip to the Pinstripe Bowl since their 31-30 win over Boston College in 2014. It was James Franklin’s first bowl win as Penn State’s head coach.

Penn State will know its ACC opponent after the NCAA selection show on Sunday. Experts have predicted the Nittany Lions to play Louisville, Duke, or in-state rival Pitt in the showdown.
