Report: Penn State Football Linebacker Amare Campbell Plans To Enter Transfer Portal

Penn State football linebacker Amare Campbell is entering the transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Campbell has one year of eligibility remaining.

Campbell transferred to Penn State this offseason, joining a linebacker room that lacked depth. He immediately started next to Tony Rojas in Jim Knowles’ first-year defense. The junior earned the green dot for the Nittany Lions as well, relaying plays to his teammates while on the field.

The Manassas, Virginia, native starred in his lone season wearing the blue and white during what turned out to be a difficult year for the Nittany Lions. Campbell recorded 103 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks in 2025. His best game came in the White Out, highlighted by 15 total tackles in the loss to Oregon.

The middle linebacker was a key player Penn State would have loved to have back for his senior season.

Campbell is the 37th Nittany Lion to toss his name into the transfer portal following Penn State’s disappointing 2025 season.
