Things To Do This Weekend Besides THON 2026

With THON slated to be Penn State’s premier event throughout the weekend, there are still plenty of happenings in and around State College for those who want to steer clear of the Bryce Jordan Center for a bit. Here’s a quick rundown.
Penn State Wrestling vs. Princeton: Friday, February 20
Penn State wrestling takes on Princeton on Friday, February 20, at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions look to close out the regular season with another win after clinching the Big Ten regular season title.
Penn State Men’s Hockey vs. Ohio State: Friday, February 20, & Saturday, February 21
Penn State men’s hockey takes on Ohio State on Friday, February 20, at 8:30 p.m., just across the street from THON at Pegula Ice Arena, bringing Big Ten energy to State College for those who want a break after the first four hours. Round two of the series will be at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
MM Final Recital — Kaden Klein, Oboe: Saturday, February 21
The Penn State School of Music hosts Kaden Klein’s MM Final Recital on Saturday, February 21, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
2026 Oscar Nominated Short Films: Sunday, February 22
Roadside Attractions presents 2026 Oscar-nominated short films beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, at The State Theatre. The showing will feature animated, live action, and documentary shorts ahead of the Academy Awards on March 15 for all of the State College cinephiles who still need their fix on THON weekend.
DIY Wood Sign Workshop – Board & Brush: Sunday, February 22
Board & Brush State College will host a DIY wood sign workshop on Sunday, February 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. Create a custom piece with step-by-step instructions and paint and stain options. Pre-registration is required and can be done here.
Rhapsody Series: Resonant Images: Sunday, February 22
The Penn State School of Music is hosting the Rhapsody Series: Resonant Images on Sunday, February 22, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Recital Hall. Folks can check out double bass professor Patricia Weitzel and pianist Seulki Yoo as they put on a multimedia performance featuring a combination of global music and original video projections by professor Curtis Craig. Admission is free and open to everyone.
