Former Lady Lions Guard Nyla McFadden Transfers To UCF

Former Penn State women’s basketball guard Nyla McFadden has committed to transfer to UCF, she announced on Wednesday.

A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, McFadden stands at 6’0″. As a freshman, she started eight games and averaged 4.5 points per game, finishing the season with 126 points. Her most notable performance came in a loss to Oregon, when she recorded 15 points, six rebounds, and one assist. McFadden closed out the season strong with back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts against USC and Indiana.

McFadden is one of several former Penn State players to find a new home after entering the transfer portal, including Gracie Merkle, Moriah Murray, and Maggie Mendelson, who have all committed to new schools.

Only a few weeks ago, UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir announced the hiring of Gabe Lazo as the next head coach of its women’s basketball program. Along with McFadden, UCF has also received notable transfers from University of Pittsburgh guard Mikayla Johnson and University of Miami guard Vittoria Blasigh.
