Report: Khalil Dinkins Signs With San Francisco 49ers As Undrafted Free Agent

Penn State tight end Khalil Dinkins is signing with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Wexford, Pennsylvania, native was a four-year letterman at North Allegheny High School.

He spent five seasons with the Nittany Lions, appearing in 48 games. Over that span, he recorded 37 receptions for 399 yards and seven touchdowns. His most productive season came as a senior, when he totaled 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

At 6’4″ and 251 pounds, Dinkins comes from a very athletic family. His father, Darnell Dinkins, enjoyed a ten-year NFL career. After signing with the New York Giants in 2002, he later played for the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, and New Orleans Saints, winning a Super Bowl in 2009.

At the NFL Combine, Dinkins posted a 4.72-second 40-yard dash and a 32.5-inch vertical jump. During the 2024 season at Penn State, he shared the tight end room with Tyler Warren, now a member of the Indianapolis Colts. Dinkins is known for his run blocking ability, though some teams questioned whether he has the size to consistently handle NFL-caliber defensive ends.

Dinkins now has a shot to earn a roster spot next to two-time First-Team All-Pro George Kittle. He is the third Nittany Lion to earn an undrafted free agent contract, joining Devonte Ross and Nick Dawkins.
