Penn State Football Assistant Coach Jordan Lucas Charged With DUI
Update, 2:20 p.m.:
According to the criminal complaint, Jordan Lucas was found unconscious with his car in park and both passenger-side tires flattened around 12:47 a.m.
The complaint states that Lucas had fallen asleep behind the wheel and was parked on the crosswalk at the intersection of South Pugh Street and East Beaver Ave.
A State College Police officer had to physically remove Lucas’ foot from the accelerator after attempts to ask Lucas to do so failed. He then had Lucas step out of the vehicle to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. At this point, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol from the car.
According to the complaint, Lucas stumbled multiple times during the test. He was brought to Mount Nittany Medical Center, where blood tests found Lucas’s BAC to be 0.236, nearly three times the legal limit.
Lucas was also driving with a suspended license and an expired registration at the time of the arrest.
“We are aware of these charges and take this matter seriously,” Penn State told Onward State. “Coach Lucas remains with the program. As this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further.”

Penn State football assistant coach and former player Jordan Lucas has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to court documents filed on Tuesday.
Lucas, listed as an assistant linebacker coach for the Nittany Lions, had a BAC more than double Pennsylvania’s legal limit at the time of the incident on August 16.
Lucas is charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI and summary offenses of driving with a suspended license, driving an unregistered vehicle, and parking in a crosswalk.
The former Penn State football player’s preliminary hearing is set for October 21.
Lucas was a defensive back for the Nittany Lions from 2012 to 2015. After his time in Happy Valley, Lucas had a six-year NFL career that included a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Penn State hired Lucas in 2024 during the James Franklin tenure.
Penn State did not reply to Onward State’s request for comment at the time of publication.
