Concrete to Green: PARK(ing) Day Comes to Town

National Park(ing) Day 2011 is stopping in State College this Friday. Students in the Stuckeman Architecture program will transform parking spaces into a green mini-park. As part of the event, community members and Penn State students are asked to serve as judges to decide the best park.

Honor Guard Hoists American Flag

This afternoon, September 11th, Honor Guard police hang an American Flag from two fire engines outside the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on Penn State's campus to honor those lost on 9/11.

Chronic Town Music Gathering on 9/11

This Sunday, as a way to gather and share some new music, the indie, industrial, band, A Place to Bury Strangers, will be performing in the Chronic Town hookah lounge at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in addition to any hookah smoking you may entertain. Setting the mood for the night will be opener, Think Twice, Dublin, a local indie band comprised of Penn Staters.

Party Patrol System to Curb Excessive Parties

In an effort to mitigate excessive, out-of-control parties in the State College Borough, authorities are attempting a slightly different approach to reduce the problems associated with large parties and improve town and gown relations in the process. The new "party patrol" system will form a unique partnership between State College and Penn State police and will rely heavily on the cooperation of students hosting parties off campus.

For those of you who don't know them, Happy Valley Communicati0ns is the Onward State of Public Relations. Born in 2009, HVC is Penn State's only student-run public relations firm that exists to offer professional PR services to Penn State and national campaigns. NRT Doesn’t Want a Refund, Just Your Auditions

NRT hasn't changed its motto—it doesn't want a refund, but it is holding auditions next week and is actively seeking new members. No Refund Theatre is holding auditions for this fall semester's second round of shows this Sunday through September 6 from 6-9 p.m. in the Chambers Building lobby. For more information about the organization and this year's show schedule visit the NRT website. NRT provides an avenue for students with a wide range of experience who want to try acting and in the process meet new people.
