Being the philanthropists that we are, we have undertaken the calling for the creation of a less shitty/more diverse music scene here at Penn State. Ergo, we are proud to present to you: Friday Alternatives. Prepare yourself for a dive into the recesses of the alternative scene.
This weekend I participated in THON through the Rules & Regulations Committee. I transferred to Penn State as a freshman last spring from the University of Maryland, so I missed the opportunity to join a committee. THON 2011 was an experience I will never forget.
The principal duty of the Hospitality, or HOS, Committee is to acquire and distribute all food and beverages during THON weekend and various pre-THON events. HOS connects the community and sponsors to THON by obtaining donations throughout the year. It will be easy to spot the HOS-associated, as they will be rocking some kickin' hot pink shirts (not to be confused with the light pink apparel of the Merchandise Committee).

If you happen to be a fan of this long-running, public affairs talk show, you may have noticed that it's host, Andy Nash, has manned the helm for longer than any undergraduate could possibly remain in college (at least without trying really hard not to succeed). The Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, State College Area Roller's derby debut, lived up to its' name yesterday evening. Members of the FBI's Hoover's Honeys and the Mafia's Machine Gun Kellys participated in the scrimmage, slamming and hammering into each other. There haven't been this many tumultuous females in one place since the women's suffrage movement.
