Representative Glenn Thompson of Pennsylvania’s 5th congressional district addressed the House last Thursday to recognize and congratulate THON for another year of success. Thompson, a Penn State grad and Bellefonte native, had asked and received permission to address the House.

Penn State Basketball Has Best Days Ahead

Coming into 2012 season, the expectations for Penn State basketball team were at an all-time low. Their top four scorers, including the leading scorer in school history, Talor Battle, had graduated. Their head coach had bolted the program for Navy, and a new coach, Patrick Chambers, was brought in. The roster was filled with underclassmen and only one returning starter. These players would be thrown out to play with the sharks of the best basketball conference in the country, the Big Ten. “It’ll be a miracle if they win one conference game,” thought many fans.

Acclaimed Filmmakers to Speak at PSU

Penn State's Student Programming Association recently announced that two acclaimed filmmakers will be venturing to speak at Penn State in March.

Morgan Spurlock, who directed and starred in the acclaimed documentary "Super Size Me," will speak Monday, March 19 in Schwab Auditorium at 8 p.m. Additionally, John Fox, writer and director of Academy Award-nominated documentary GasLand will speak on March 14 at 8 p.m. in Alumni Hall at the HUB. Both events are free.

Lady Lions Earn Several Postseason Awards

To further cap off an impressive regular season for the Penn State Lady Lions’ basketball team, Head Coach Coquese Washington was selected as the Big Ten Coach of the Year by both her coaching peers and the media. Additionally, junior guard Alex Bentley and sophomore guard Maggie Lucas were both named first team All-Big Ten.

Penn State Grad Releases Single with Philly Flavor

It seems like everyone is a rapper these days. Penn State has certainly had their fair share of rappers come through over the past few years. Some are good. Some are not so good. Class of 2010 graduate (and former Collegian writer!) and Philadelphia native Adam Ferrone, also known as Rone, falls in the good category. His debut single, "200 Miles to Philadelphia," was released last week and produced by Ritz Reynolds, who has worked with The Roots and Mac Miller.
