The Nittany Lions' All-Big Ten first baseman Jordan Steranka was selected by his hometown Pittsburgh Pirates in the 21st round, while John Walter, a tall right handed pitcher, was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 29th round.
Penn State lefty Joe Kurrasch was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the eighth round (268th overall) of the Major League Baseball First Year Player draft on Tuesday. Kurrasch, a native of San Juan Capistrano, California, is coming off a fantastic first season as a Nittany Lion. He went 4-2 with a 2.05 ERA in 16 appearances, including 11 starts.
