In the midst of the insanity that was last week, a rumor came to our attention that Johnson & Johnson had decided to no longer donate to THON. After the national media's often poor coverage of all that was happening in State College, which led to the misconstrued opinions of those outside the Penn State community, this rumor, unfortunately, seemed quite plausible. However, Donor & Alumni Relations Overall Anuj Upadhyay has assured us that this is incorrect.
Back on track, this week's Overall Series is all about Rules & Regulations, and their FeaR&Rless leader, Mairead Hanna. Hoping to bring some change to the committee, Hanna opens about her plans to make the Bryce Jordan Center, and all of THON the safest it can possibly be. And while this picture may lead you to believe otherwise, she does have hands. And yes, she loves dinosaurs. Let's rock and rule!
Rallies, protests, and marches are being coordinated at every Penn State landmark, and all everyone has been able to talk about since the start of the week are the allegations surrounding some of our beloved school symbols. Some people are saying they are ashamed to be Penn Staters, that somehow the actions of a few have caused all of us to become embarrassed. But why is this? This one scandal doesn't define us as a University, but other things, positive ones, do.
It seems like it was just yesterday that the Committee Members were being announced. Now, we are less than 24 hours away from the 100 Days til THON marker, and the reality that THON Weekend is just around the bend sets in. As always, an action-packed afternoon at the HUB has been planned for us all to gather in excitement of the countdown, ending with a Silent Rave and aerial picture outside of Old Main.
At the annual Penn State Basketball Dodgeball Tournament benefitting THON, champions were made and amateurs eliminated, but it was all in good fun, and all FTK.
