Commonwealth Spotlight: Altoona

We sat down with a member of Altoona's THON Team, Ethan, to find out a little more about this group.

Who’d Miss A Chance To Dress Ridiculously?

Large 46-hour long dancing charity events tend to attract some crazies. Besides Halloween, THON is the best, and most appropriate time of the year at Penn State to get as dressed up as absurdly as possible. This year, we have a few candidates for most absurd costume, including a giant box robot, Buzz Lightyear, and the Gingerbread Man.

Don’t Get Shut Out, Arrive Early

PR Captains Anna Sofio and Lenny Smith say this year's THON has been busier than ever.

Even if you have access to a coveted pass for the final 4 hours of THON, you will have to arrive early if you want to use it. The floor is expected to reach capacity by 9 or 10 a.m., before the official close of the pass line at 12 p.m. The floor has been at capacity several times throughout the weekend, more often than ever before, according to the captains.

Khloe Kardashian Checks in on THON

Khloe checked in on THON early last night-- let's hope she does the same today. There's a very real possibility that we can get #THON into trending topics worldwide during the final hours.

We Are…The Dancers (By Hour 32)

I'm beginning to lose feeling in my fingers. It's been over 31 hours since THON started. That's like watching almost one and a half seasons of '24' back-to-back. Spirits are high on the dance floor though and the dancing is still raging on strong. But it is becoming apparent that some of the following symptoms of sleep deprivation are beginning to take effect:

  • brain's problem solving greatly diminishes
  • possible hallucinations
  • depression
  • irritability
  • slowed reaction times
  • slurred speech
  • tremors

But Matt is trying not to keep his mind on such things.
