NRC Graduate Program Rankings

The National Research Council (NRC) released its 2010 doctoral program (graduate school) rankings on Tuesday. The NRC does this type of release every 10 yrs, though the last release took place in 1995. This data is taken very seriously by many firms that judge our institutions. Let's see what the report says...

Gamers Arena to Hold Opening Cermonies

A new video game store will press start and begin life in downtown State College this week. Located at 421 East Calder Way, Gamers Arena should provide the perfect alternative to those on campus who don’t want to take a bus to purchase murder simulators. The store is celebrating not being GameStop with a grand opening bash tomorrow, the first of October.

Settle v. Professor: the Biden Rally Tiff

Vice President Biden's visit led to some confrontation outside the Pollock Road entrance of the HUB. In one such instance, Sam Settle of Young Americans for Freedom got in an argument with Steven Heppelmann, a Penn State physics professor. Hilarity ensues in the video after the jump.

Homecoming Wants Your Blood, Offers Free Chipotle

This Friday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Penn State Homecoming is hosting a blood drive at Alumni Hall in the the HUB. If you're interested, donors are encouraged to schedule appointments ahead of time. You can do this online or in person at the HUB, where tables will be set up today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

UPUA Gears Up For CCSG Council, Homecoming

President of the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments Mohamed Raouda appeared during the Open Student Forum portion of the meeting and encouraged UPUA members to attend this weekend's CCSG meeting. Raouda said that the Assembly has "so far shown amazing support to the Commonwealth."
