Synthetic Meth Hazardous, Should be Illegal in U.S.

If you have an odd feeling that spiders have burrowed under your skin or that the FBI has wire-tapped your dorm room, you may be one of the many to discovered the legal high, bath salt. Described by some as synthesized meth, should this newest fix in the recreational drug scene be taken off of the market? Or do the people of this country have the right to stay up for days and scratch holes in their necks?

Bar Tour App Quenches Thirst

Some students have already caught the sweeping trend, but for others that haven't, the PSU Bar Tour App is here! Those unfamiliar with the app should know that it is a complete list of every bar and their specials for the night, including the bands and happy hour times. For many students, this is a lifesaver. I mean, who doesn't love a complete list of bars in the palm of their hands? The app also include a unique GPS function to locate the bars near you as well as specific dates of specials. Week summaries are also available on the app.

ATO Sentenced in Furnishing Case

The Collegian is reporting that one month after being found guilty of furnishing alcohol to minors, Alpha Tau Omega fraternity was sentenced to pay a $500 fine and serve community service.

The misdemeanor charge stems from the September 19, 2009 evening in which freshman Joe Dado was found dead in an exterior stairwell between Hosler and Steidle buildings. This is the second misdemeanor furnishing charge brought against Alpha Tau Omega by the Centre County District attorney. The first charge was dismissed last July.

Streetlight Manifesto Tickets Available Today

That's right, tickets to the Streetlight show will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. today in Alumni Hall. They're free with a student ID, and $5 for everyone else. Students will only be able to purchase one student ticket with their ID.

The concert will kick off at 8 p.m. on February 7 in Alumni Hall. In one of their last performances before they jump to Indigo, Go Go Gadjet will be the opening act. So get your skanking shoes ready because the show's in two weeks.

Christian Rock Tour to Jam in BJC

This Friday January 28, the Bryce Jordan Center will host a plethora of Christian Rock bands in all their glory — corny lyricism and painfully unsubtle undertones included.

Ten Christian artists will perform as part of Winter Jam 2011. The show starts at 7 p.m. with a "$10 suggested donation at the door, no ticket required!" according to the event page on the BJC website.

Center for Sustainability Holds Video Contest

The Center for Sustainability is teaming up with the Media Commons folks to hold a video contest exploring what our community thinks about sustainability. This contest is so sustainable that it's even offering cash prizes to the winners. The group is looking for videos not longer than 3 minutes that address one of two topics: Sustainable You and Sustainable U.
