The LION 90.7fm WKPS is up for the 2011 mtvU Woodie Award for the Best College Radio Station. The mtvU Woodie Awards are an annual awards show catered to the college music market, featuring categories like 'Woodie of the Year' and 'Breaking Woodie.'
President Zach Zimbler says that last year, the radio station placed in the top 10 but did not walk away with the big prize. He's hard set on getting them to finish first this year though. Check out the teaser they made to promote the award (spoiler alert: 'Woodie' puns are enthusiastically embraced).

You've just spent the past three months spending every dollar you have flying home to see your family on Thanksgiving... only to discover that your family went to Florida for the holiday... and forgot to tell you. Michigan State gave the Nittany Lions the boot off the proverbial bubble Thursday night after thoroughly taking care of business at the Breslin Center, downing Penn State, 75-57.
In a battle of the Big Ten's best, the #23 Lady Lions fell to the visiting #11 Michigan State Spartans, 60-49. Sophomore forward Mia Nickson led the team with 22 points on 6-12 shooting, but was one of just two Lady Lions in double figures, along with star freshman Maggie Lucas (15 points).

This Saturday is the third annual boxing show, which will take place in the White Building. Tickets are only a few dollars at the gate. Although Penn State is known for its football, boxing used to be a division one sport in the 70s and Showdown in the Valley is bringing it back.
