Report: KJ Hamler To Miss Time With Hamstring Injury

Former Penn State football star wide receiver KJ Hamler sustained a hamstring injury at the Denver Broncos’ summer training camp Thursday, according to a report from NFL Network’s James Palmer.

The speedy wideout will miss multiple weeks due to the injury.

Denver’s second-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft has already impressed in his first few weeks training with the team. Hamler was seen making a spectacular diving catch and even showed off his speed against Broncos defenders last week.

If the Nittany Lion’s injury lingers into the first few weeks of the NFL season, the Broncos will certainly lose an important young piece of their wide receiver unit. Denver also drafted star Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy in the first round, and Hamler was set to be a solid compliment to the fellow wideout.

While he only played two seasons in Happy Valley, Hamler was an effective target from the moment he stepped on the field. He left Penn State with 96 career receptions worth 1,658 yards and 14 total touchdowns. The Pontiac, Michigan native also impressed during the Nittany Lions’ White Out win this past fall, as he hauled in six catches for 108 yards and two scores.

Hamler was the second Nittany Lion to be taken in the 2020 NFL Draft, just eight picks after defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos. He was among a group of five Penn Staters to be drafted this year, including John Reid, Cam Brown, and Rob Windsor.
