Some of the most fun moments of THON are the celebrity performers who grace the stage at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Last year, Daya and Cash Cash performed for the dancers and their supporters. And even though this year’s THON will be online, we’ll still be treated to two celebrity guest performers. But who?!

We asked our staffers to offer their top guest performers, and hopefully, THON might grant their wishes.

Mackenzie Cullen: The Jonas Brothers

There is nothing I want more in my life right now than to go back in time to see the Jonas Brothers perform at the BJC again. As someone who’s been a Sucker for them since I was eight-years-old, I’ll never get tired of listening to their classics like “Lovebug,” “Burnin’ Up,” or “When You Look Me In The Eyes.”

It would be so Cool if they did a surprise performance at THON this year. Despite growing up, they still have such a wholesome and kid-friendly image and totally embody what THON is. Now that they’ve made a Comeback in the last few years, they’re also popular with younger audiences again.

Joe, Nick, and Kevin, if you really love Penn State, please perform at THON this year.

Michael Tauriello: Dua Lipa

I’m not what you’d call the biggest Dua Lipa fan, but “Future Nostalgia” is worth respecting, and I think it fits the bill for a THON performance quite nicely. It’s a very poppy album, and it gives you the vibes of a Super Bowl halftime show in some ways. That said, the (mostly) family-friendly album and the pop/dance vibes that she gives off would fit right in for THON.

It’s also worth mentioning that Lipa has had an affinity for appealing to a smaller audience similar to THON’s during the pandemic, as seen through her act for NBC’s “Graduate Together” show in May 2020. It’d be quite the name to reel in, but if I’ve been taught anything in the last year, it’s that anything is possible.

Sarah Sacker: Dennis Lloyd

I would love to see Dennis Lloyd perform at THON. I think he is an amazing artist who would bring a lot of energy into the BJC in a normal year. His hit songs “Nevermind,” “Alien,” and “Never Go Back” are tracks that I can listen to over and over again and not get tired of them. He has such a good vibe, and it would be great to hear him perform at THON in person or online.

Owen Abbey: Zedd

Zedd, in my opinion, is a much better version of Cash Cash. And Cash Cash was pretty good! Zedd’s music is definitely one to get people dancing and moving around, and he has a lot of hits that people would recognize. I mean, “Beautiful Now” was in the line dance last year, so you know he’s good.

With THON being online, it is more important than ever to have acts that make people want to stand up. There will be so many distractions that may take their mind off of the prize, and someone like Zedd will not only keep the mood up but will make people more energized heading into the evening. I think that is a pretty cool side benefit to an awesome act.

Shannon Darcy: Khalid

I personally would love to see Khalid at THON. I feel like most of his songs are kid-friendly, which is always important for an event whose motto is “For The Kids.” It would be amazing to see an artist as popular as Khalid performing at THON. His music is great, especially “Know Your Worth” and “Better.” He also seems like someone who would love to help give back to the community, and this would be a great way for him to do that.

Colleen Nersten: Tame Impala

Not only would I love to see Tame Impala perform at THON, I actually think there’s a decent possibility. Some might call this stalking…I just call it research. Executive Director Katie Solomon so happens to follow Tame Impala on Instagram. Perhaps she’s just a fan, but there’s a chance I just foiled THON’s secret reveal.

Tame Impala has gotten big in the past two years, but not SO big that it isn’t a possibility. Besides, THON is virtual, so any performer is a possibility.

Dana Nunemacher: Taylor Swift

It’s time to bring Taylor Swift to THON! Let’s not forget she is indeed a Berks County native, meaning she grew up just three hours away from State College. That totally supports that she is a closeted Penn State fan.

Taylor has already surprised fans three times with two new albums and a re-recording this year, so why not add “perform at THON” to the list? Please, Taylor, we need you!

Katie Moats: Also Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift just had two fire albums come out in the last few months and released a re-recording of her banger, “Love Story.” As a Pennsylvania native, she owes us at least one THON performance.
