Gameday Coverage: Penn State vs. No. 12 Michigan State

Hold on, folks. We’re coming in for a landing.

Penn State football (7-4, 4-4 Big Ten) is set to close out its regular season against No. 12 Michigan State (9-2, 6-2 Big Ten) in East Lansing. Both head coaches are entering this game after signing massive new contracts, so some bragging rights could be on the line here as well.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Penn State’s battle for the Land-Grant Trophy.

Television

Saturday’s matchup is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ABC. Sean McDonough and Penn State letterman Todd Blackledge are set to be on the call, while Molly McGrath will assist with additional sideline reporting.

Radio

Penn State Sports Network — Steve Jones, Jack Ham, and Brian Tripp
Local: 99.5 & 103.7 FM/1450 AM, Sirius/XM/Internet: 83/386/976

Weather

Folks, this one could get interesting! It will be just around 30 degrees at kickoff and Accuweather predicts between two and four inches of snow to fall throughout the afternoon. Temperatures will drop as low as 28 degrees and wind could get up near 10 miles per hour.

Last Meeting

Both Penn State and Michigan State were at pretty low points in their seasons when they met in 2020. The Nittany Lions were able to pull ahead for a 39-24 victory behind 108 yards from Jahan Dotson and a two-touchdown effort from Parker Washington.

Currently, these teams have a 17-17-1 all-time record, which makes this a tiebreaker game! Penn State is on a two-game hot streak.

Injuries/Suspensions

Since Penn State typically only reports season-ending injuries, we only know that defensive linemen Adisa Isaac, Hakeem Beamon, and PJ Mustipher will miss Saturday’s matchup. James Franklin announced during the bye week the injury Mustipher sustained against Iowa is season-ending.

Last week, more than 30 players, including starting quarterback Sean Clifford, were suffering from non-COVID illnesses. Franklin expects most of them to return to the lineup, although some guys caught the tail end of the outbreak during this week.

Betting Lines

Penn State is a two-point favorite heading into East Lansing this weekend, according to Oddsshark. The over/under is set at 52 points. The under hit last week.
