Penn State Football Tight End Tyler Warren To Return For 2024 Season

Penn State football tight end Tyler Warren will return to the Nittany Lions for the 2024 season, he announced Friday. Warren also confirmed he will play in the Peach Bowl. Warren’s announcement came after fellow starting tight end Theo Johnson declared for the NFL Draft.

“We’ve done some great things as a family, but I do believe the best is yet to come,” Warren said in a statement.

Warren tag-teamed starting reps with Johnson this season, as the two put together one of the best tight end rooms in college football. Warren started in most games, catching 29 passes for 295 yards and seven touchdowns. With Johnson heading to the NFL, Warren is expected to be the Nittany Lions’ lone starter at the position.

Over the prior two seasons, Warren was a consistent factor for the Nittany Lions. He sat behind Brenton Strange, who was drafted to the Jacksonville Jaguars after the 2022 season. Warren caught 10 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns in 2022 and five catches for 61 yards and one touchdown the year before. He only made two appearances in his first season in 2020.

Six Nittany Lions have declared for the draft, including Johnson, Caedan WallaceDaequan HardyCurtis JacobsOlu Fashanu, and Chop Robinson. Only Robinson has said he will not play in the Peach Bowl, though Fashanu’s status is still uncertain.
