Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez To Campaign At Penn State October 18

Update: Thursday, October 17: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s visit to Penn State has been confirmed. The congresswoman will appear at around 6 p.m. on Friday, October 18, at the State Theatre. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Update, 11:44 p.m.: A representative from Penn State College Democrats informed Onward State that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s event at Penn State has not yet been confirmed.

Original Story:

U.S. House of Representatives member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will rally for the Kamala Harris presidential campaign at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 18, at Penn State. An exact location has yet to be announced.

Ocasio-Cortez is a Democrat who represents the people of New York’s 14th district. In January 2019, the Bronx native was sworn in as the youngest woman and youngest Latina ever to serve in Congress.

Ocasio-Cortez graduated from Boston University but didn’t enter the political scene until she helped fundraise for Bernie Sanders in 2016. She was a bartender and waitress before shockingly defeating the 14th district’s incumbent in 2018.

Ocasio-Cortez’s visit will be one of several political events at Penn State. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro made a stop at the Berkey Creamery in September, as did Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk. Turning Point USA is set to return on Thursday, October 17, alongside former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
