Report: Yanic Konan Niederhauser To Remain In NBA Draft, Will Forgo Senior Season With Penn State Hoops

Penn State men’s basketball center Yanic Konan Niederhauser is remaining in the NBA Draft and will forgo his final year of eligibility, per Jacob Myers.

Konan Niederhauser originally declared for the NBA Draft on April 2, and received an invitation to the draft combine on May 11 following a strong performance at the G League Elite Camp.

ESPN listed Konan Niederhauser at No. 36 in its post-combine mock draft, which was five spots higher than the week prior.

After two seasons at Northern Illinois, the seven-footer from Switzerland went for a career-best 12.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks for the Nittany Lions.

Heading into head coach Mike Rhoades’ third year at the helm, Penn State will feature freshmen Kayden Mingo, Mason Blackwood, Justin Houser, Reggie Grodin, and Ivan Juric, along with Cincinnati transfer Josh Reed. Juric, a 7’0″ big man from Croatia, will likely step into a role similar to Konan Niederhauser’s last season.

The NBA Draft is set for June 25 and 26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Both days will be televised on ESPN.
