Four Penn State Football Players Land On AP Preseason All-American Teams

Four Penn State football players were named to the Associated Press’ (AP) Preseason All-American teams, the AP announced Monday. Senior defensive tackle Zane Durant, redshirt junior offensive lineman Vega Ioane, and senior running back Nick Singleton were named to the first team, while senior running back Kaytron Allen was pinned to the second team.

Penn State tied with Texas for the most players on the first team with three.

Durant notched 42 tackles, 11 tackles-for-loss, three sacks, and a pass breakup in 2024 and is poised for an even bigger role in the Nittany Lions’ defense in 2025. Ioane was also tabbed to the Lombardi Award, Outland Trophy, and Polynesian Player of the Year Award watch lists earlier in the offseason and is a key piece of arguably the best offensive line in the Big Ten.

Singleton also kept the preseason accolades coming as he and second-team selection Allen both aim to break Penn State’s all-time rushing yards record in 2025. Both running backs have been named to the Doak Walker Award and Maxwell Award watch lists, while Singleton was additionally tabbed to the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award watch list.

It’s a big improvement for Penn State’s preseason All-American selections from 2024, as the Nittany Lions were only represented through Abdul Carter on the second team a year ago. Penn State’s extensive representation on this year’s teams, paired with its No. 2 ranking on the AP’s preseason poll, builds up even more expectations for the Nittany Lions as the season looms closer.
