No. 2 Penn State football closes out its 2025 non-conference slate as in-state FCS Villanova comes to Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions won their first two matchups of the year comfortably, but the team aims to finalize its rotations ahead of the bye week and Big Ten play.

Here’s the rundown for Penn State’s week three matchup against the Wildcats.

Penn State will play on FS1 for the first time since 2023 with Connor Onion on play-by-play and Mark Helfrich on color commentary. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.

Cloud cover stands at 53% and wind gusts are projecting to go up to 13 mph. Folks can expect the temperature to drop to the low 70s as the game rolls into the evening.

Injuries

Penn State had 19 players out for week two’s game against FIU, but Zuriah Fisher and Zion Tracy made their returns to the lineup. Max Granville, Mason Robinson, Jordan Mayer, Kaleb Artis, Josiah Brown, Kaden Saunders, Peter Gonzalez, Lyrick Samuel, Donte Nastasi, Bekkem Kritza, Eagan Boyer, Liam Horan, and Brady O’Hara were all listed as out against the Panthers.

Series History

Penn State and Villanova have met 10 times before, with the Nittany Lions holding the advantage with a 6-3-1 record. The two programs last met in a 38-17 Penn State win at Beaver Stadium in 2021. Former Nittany Lions signal caller Sean Clifford tossed four touchdowns and 401 yards in the game. However, the Wildcats have taken three of their last four matchups against the Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions are -48.5-point favorites against the Wildcats with the over/under set at 55.5 points, according to FanDuel.
