Report: Penn State Men’s Hockey Forward JJ Wiebusch Transferring To Wisconsin

After officially entering the transfer portal on Monday, Penn State men’s hockey forward JJ Wiebusch is transferring to Big Ten rival Wisconsin following the Badgers’ run to the NCAA Championship, according to Mike Divver of NHL.com on Thursday.

Wiebusch appeared in 33 games during the 2025-26 season, tallying 36 points on 16 goals and 20 assists, establishing himself as one of Penn State’s biggest offensive threats. His season was highlighted by a four-goal performance early in the season against Clarkson and a three-assist outing during the opening weekend at Arizona State.

As a freshman, Wiebush had a major role in the team’s run to the Frozen Four, putting up 33 points on 14 goals and 19 assists. He earned Big Ten All-Tournament team honors and was named to the Allentown Regional All-Tournament Team following his postseason performance.

Weibusch is the third Nittany Lion to find a new home through the transfer portal this offseason, following Cade Christenson’s transfer to Providence and Nic Chin-DeGraves’ move to Arizona State.
