Two Former Penn State Women’s Soccer Players Join Professional Teams

Two former Penn State women’s soccer players signed with professional teams this week.

Goalie Amanda Poorbaugh signed with the Sporting Club Jacksonville in the USL Championship and Eva Alonso González signed with Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña in Liga F.

Alonso, who was previously at Levante in Spain, signed a deal through 2028. She headed back to Spain right after leaving the Nittany Lions. Last season she played 29 games and scored 2 goals and became an important starter for Levante.

In her final year in Happy Valley, the defender started in 22 of Penn State’s 23 matches, earned 1,398 minutes of playing time on the pitch, and led the Nittany Lions in assists with seven dishes, adding an additional goal to total nine points on the year.

Poorbaugh joins Sporting JAX after spending five years with Penn State. She gained attention this summer due to her Golden Glove performance in the 2026 TST Women’s tournament.

In her time with the Nittany Lions, the goalie played 1,238 minutes played in 21 appearances, held a a .647 goals against average, and a .824 save percentage.
