Penn State Wrestling To Host Bloomsburg On November 12

Penn State wrestling is set to host Bloomsburg on Thursday, November 12, for an early-season non-conference dual meet, per Bloomsburg’s schedule release on its website.

It will be the 23rd all-time meeting between the two in-state foes dating back to 1976. The Nittany Lions are 16-5-1 in the prior 22, having won the last six meetings. The last win in the series by the Huskies came on February 22, 1991.

Bloomsburg, which is just 75 miles east of State College, competes in Division II in all other sports, but takes advantage of the tremendous Northeast talent pool to be Division I in wrestling, where it competes in the MAC.

The Huskies are coming off a rough season, in which they went 10-18 in dual meets and were winless in conference play. They finished 10th out of 13 in the MAC Championships and didn’t score a single team point in the NCAA Championships despite qualifying two wrestlers. They have one wrestler currently ranked in the inaugural InterMat rankings, No. 30 heavyweight Mason Rebuck.

Bloomsburg is the 12th confirmed opponent for the Nittany Lions this season. While the official schedule has yet to be released, other non-conference bouts that include Lehigh on the road in December, the Journeyman Collegiate Duals against Duke right before Christmas, and at home against Northern Colorado in February have been previously reported to go along with eight confirmed Big Ten opponents on dates to be determined.
