
The panel was part of Red Zone Action Week, a weeklong effort to educate students about the increased vulnerability for sexual assault during the first six weeks of the school year.

As part of an initiative that began 12 years ago, groups of students take time out of their Friday evenings to walk around campus and turn off lights left on in empty classrooms.

The initiative will feature various giving-focused events, and senior students will be able to vote for their favorite class gift option throughout the week.

Two of these students will be honored with the first annual "Guide State Forward" Award, rather than naming a Homecoming king and queen.

"I'm here to let you know that UPUA will never be seen for all the good that you guys really do if we just continue to shut the lights off on communities of color."
