Gameday Coverage: Croke Park Classic vs. UCF

Hello Penn State fans!

The summer is finally over, and the Penn State football team is ready to kickoff against UCF. The game will be played in Dublin, Ireland. It’s the first time either team has played a game outside of the United States. Whether you’ll be watching at a bar, tailgating at home, or be one of the thousands representing our school in Dublin, coach James Franklin’s debut is sure to be remembered for a long time.

Below is all of the media information you’ll need for Saturday’s game:

Kickoff: 8:30 a.m. Eastern time/1:30 p.m. Western European time

Television: ESPN2 — Mike Patrick, Ed Cunningham, and Jeannine Edwards

Radio: Penn State Sports Network — Steve Jones (Play-by-play), Jack Ham (Analyst), Loren Crispell (Sideline reporter). Local: 93.7 FM, 1450 AM, Sirius Ch. 92, XM Ch. 195

Weather: Per accuweather.com, it should be a perfect day for football in Dublin. Tomorrow’s high is 62 degrees, with 77% humidity. 0% chance of precipitation at kickoff, but there’s a 20% chance by 4 p.m. local time. The only problem the teams could face is winds up to 19 mph.

Last Time They Met: In front of the first student whiteout of the 2013 season, Blake Bortles and UCF came into Happy Valley and handed Penn State its first loss of the year. Bortles torched an inexpereinced Nittany Lion secondary, throwing for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns. Christian Hackenberg threw for 262 yards, and 143 of them were to Allen Robinson.

Injuries: Miles Dieffenbach (knee), Adam Breneman (knee), and Ben Kline (Achilles) are all out for the year for the Nittany Lions.

Media Coverage: @OnwardState and @OnwardStSports will have live tweets and Facebook updates throughout the game. Kevin Horne is in Ireland and will be taking pictures of the sights and sounds throughout the weekend. StateCollege.com reporter Ben Jones also made the trip across the pond — you can follow him on Twitter and keep up-to-date with his travel blog here.
