Penn State football has returned to Beaver Stadium for its season-opening matchup against the Nevada Wolf Pack. In one of Penn State’s most anticipated seasons in program history, the Nittany Lions enter 2025 as a national champion favorite, looking to build off their deep College Football Playoff run from a year ago.

It all starts with Nevada as the two programs face off for the very first time. Here’s everything you need to know about Penn State’s season opener.

Television

The Nittany Lions will kick off their season on CBS with Brad Nessler on play-by-play, Gary Danielson on color commentary, and Jenny Dell as the sideline reporter. Penn State played four games on the network a season ago.

Weather

Saturday will be mostly sunny with a slight mix of clouds and a high of 72°, according to Accuweather. There is a 10% chance of precipitation in the afternoon with wind gusts up to 10 mph. Cloud cover will jump up to 46% around game time.

Injuries

Defensive end Max Granville and wide receivers Kaden Saunders and Josiah Brown are all battling long-term injuries sustained over summer break and training camp.

The Nittany Lions are -43.5-point favorites against the Wolf Pack with the over/under set at 54.5 points, according to DraftKings.
