Gameday Coverage: Penn State vs. Michigan State

Happy gameday, folks!

Penn State football is on the road once more for a date with Michigan State for the coveted Land-Grant Trophy. The two programs did not play last season for the first time since 2013, leaving a gaping hole in Penn State’s schedule.

Nonetheless, the Nittany Lions and Spartans will resume action in Spartan Stadium as both squads lunge for their first Big Ten wins of 2025.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the matchup.

Television

The game will be broadcast on CBS with Brad Nessler on play-by-play, Gary Danielson on color commentary, and Jenny Dell reporting from the sidelines. It’s Penn State’s third time on CBS this season. The Nittany Lions’ last time on the network was for their 42-37 loss to UCLA in week six. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.

Liam Clifford was notably taking quarterback reps behind Ethan Grunkemeyer and ahead of Bekkem Kritza. Series History

Penn State holds the slight 19-18-1 series lead over Michigan State. The Nittany Lions are riding a two-game win streak dating back to 2022. Penn State last won 42-0 at Ford Field in 2023.

Michigan State’s last win of the series came in a snowy 30-27 nailbiter in 2021. That game also serves as the last time the two programs squared off in East Lansing.

The Spartans hold the longest win streak of the series, taking five straight victories from 1949 to 1966.
