Penn State: A Football School With A Basketball Problem

Seven freshmen, four sophomores, two juniors, and one senior. There's no doubt that the Penn State Nittany Lions men's basketball team is young. The majority of the players we've seen take the court this season will be here for at least the next two years. Like it or not, there won't be very many changes to the roster during the coming offseason.

Alesso & Ingrosso Fans: Behave Yourselves

A lot has been said about the status of the Dayglow concert in April being tied to the behavior at tonight's Alesso concert. Our own Melanie Versaw asks that you please stay under control so she and many others can participate in April's paint party.

State Patty’s Day: Make Good Choices

Today, we'd like to echo something that Dr. Dennis Shea (@GTWMA) has been saying. "You decide whether to build up or break down." As adults, we all have this choice. In the end, nothing a blog, an email, an RA, or a professor says can control your behavior. You have to do it. Being an adult comes with freedom, like the freedom to drink as much as you want. It also, however, comes with responsibility, like the responsibility to enhance the community you live in, to leave State College a better place than when you found it.

State Patty’s Day: Consider the Indirect Medical Implications

When one thinks of the type of emergency that an EMT would respond do, thoughts of a heart attack, stroke, or car accident come to mind, not alcohol conumption; however, that is exactly what led to the frightening phrase "No medic available." that was used over the past few editions of State Patty's Day.

V-Day or D-Day?

V-Day or should I say, D-Day? Valentine’s Day is hit or miss normally and for me, it’s a day where I receive a card and chocolates from my mom and red and pink socks from my grandma.

State Patty’s Day: A “Holiday” Not For Everyone

Last State Patty’s Day, 103 patients were treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center for alcohol-related emergencies; of those patients, 67% were not Penn State students. Most, in fact, were visitors from other universities. Similarly, last State Patty's Day, 289 people were arrested; of those arrested, 55% were enrolled at Dear Old State. What these figures suggest is that students from other schools want to come visit Happy Valley for State Patty’s Day as an excuse to act like total assholes--to get far too drunk and to commit crimes in the process.
