It's that time of year again. THON is just days away, downtown stores are stocked with green apparel for State Patty's Day, and spring break plans are starting to shape up. But alas, this is Penn State, where football may be out of sight in February, but certainly not out of mind. Last night, the Daily Collegian released the four finalists for the 2011 Whiteout t-shirt, which students can vote on starting today and ending on Thursday at 5pm.

On Tuesday, February 22nd from 8 to 11 P.M in Eisenhower Auditorium, legendary Titans’ coach Herman Boone will be speaking as a part of SPA’S Distinguished Speakers Series. Unfortunately, Denzel Washington will not be making an appearance, although he portrayed Boone in the 2000 production of Remember the Titans.

Almost 10 years ago to the date, my father came to me and asked me a question that most 13 year olds will never have to answer:
“Would you rather go to the Super Bowl with your brothers and me or would you rather go shopping with your mother in Washington D.C.?”
Just when it looked like the Nittany Lions would rally in the fourth quarter to upend the Florida Gators in the Outback Bowl, a Matt McGloin-thrown interception return for a touchdown in the final minute sealed Penn State's fate, 37-24.
Even if it's not Joe Paterno's last game, the Outback Bowl will mark the end of a more than a few Penn State football careers.
But that's the way it is. Seniors have to graduate just like fish have to swim (turns out the NCAA doesn't really accept the "super-senior" designation with the same aplomb as the rest of the Penn State community).
There's one Penn State football player whose departure I am dreading, though. He's far and away my favorite athlete on the team. Here are the top five reasons why I'll miss running back Evan Royster.
