10 Questions with Christian Hackenberg

Meet Christian Hackenberg, senior quarterback at Fork Union Military Academy who committed to Penn State as of February 29th, 2012 over schools Alabama, Miami, Connecticut, and Virginia. Recruited by Charles London, Hackenberg holds the number one spot on both of ESPN150's Top 100 Quarterbacks and Top Virginia Recruits database. Hackenberg is expected to officially sign his talent over to the Nittany Lions in February, leading to his quarterback stardom in the fall.

Sharleen Chidiac: Bringing Folk Sound to State College

Sharleen Chidiac, a local guitarist, is bringing folk music to State College. Chidiac, whose parents forced her to take piano lessons when she was five years old, said her love for music did not resonate with her until the end of high school. When she came to Penn State, she taught herself how to play the guitar and has been writing original music for the past two and half years, making her music known in local venues, like Chronic Town, Webster’s Bookstore and friend’s parties. First 2013 TEDxPSU Speakers Announced

The 2013 edition of TEDxPSU will be here before we know it. Registration for the fourth ever independently organized Penn State TED event is now open, and organizers say that they're almost completely booked. TEDxPSU: Yesterday’s Frontiers and Tomorrow’s Horizons will he held on March 17 in Schwab Auditorium, and feature 15 speakers tasked with inspiring and spreading "ideas worth sharing."

Professor Lectures on Genetic Diversity to Largely Non-Diverse Crowd

Onward State reviews the Eberly College of Science's 2013 Penn State Lectures on the Frontiers of Science. This year's theme is "Your Genes: How They Contribute to Who You Are". The first speech, by Professor Mark Shriver, was titled "Races, Faces, and Human Genetic Diversity".
