3:13 a.m. 46 hours is a lot of time to perfect your dance moves. We compiled a video of some of the best we saw on the floor this weekend. 3:04 a.m. The lights are off and Go Go is rocking the stage! Less than an hour until the reveal!!! 3:01 p.m. Go Go Gadget is preparing to take the stage. The crowd is getting excited. 2:55 p.m. While Go Go Gadjet prepares to blow the roof off the BJC, everyone on the floor and in the stands had an impromptu song-and-dance to “Livin’ On a Prayer.”
2:47 p.m. As the most emotional moments of THON comes to an end, dancer relations captains head to the stage for another line dance. 2:40 p.m. With the video over, the BJC sang “Angels Among Us” arm-in-arm as emotion hit a high for the afternoon.
2:17 p.m. The Celebration of Life video has started, honoring the THON children that have passed away. “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” plays as pictures and quotes from the children are shown on the BJC’s screens. Everyone locked arms and is swaying, filled with emotion while the video continues. “Although they are not here physically, they are here spiritually.” 2:03 p.m. The Ayden Gora family is the last to speak at Family Hour. They start by saying they were preparing to go to church when Ayden was two years old, but went to the doctor when he woke up with a puffy eye. Doctors originally thought it was allergies, but he was sent to Hershey Medical Center for more tests. Ayden’s sister, who was six months old at the time, stayed with her grandparents but visited whenever she could. He’s taken more than 1,000 doses of chemo over about three years, but if all goes well, he will be done with his treatment in June. Aydon’s best friend, the Nittany Lion, surprised him at the end of his family’s speech. 1:54 p.m. Next is the “Ashley Kaufman family,” but Ashley herself is the only person on the stage. She quotes “Goodnight Moon” and thanks her parents for their support and raising her. She explains that she originally thought she a had a flu for a long time at four years old, so her family brought her to a doctor. The doctor thought it was the flu, but her parents asked for blood tests. They didn’t think much of it until they got a call saying to come in immediately. That’s when they learned she had leukemia. “I don’t know why a lot of things happen in the world. I don’t know why cancer has affected so many people.” She paused to catch her breath as the crowd shared loud applause. “This is your opportunity to fight when you have no fight in you.” 17 years later, she’s still fighting and is speaking on stage in front of a packed BJC. She will graduate this year and completed two marathons and a half-marathon. 1:42 p.m.The Nick Fulton family is on the stage in their fourth year attending THON. They start by saying Nick met Jeter before one THON, and he said that THON was more exciting. “There was no way to describe the feeling when we heard, ‘your son has cancer.'” Nick’s mom said it felt like driving in the dark, and still does four years after the initial diagnosis. “Little did we know that even though our lives were changed with something so terrible, we were about to be blessed with incredible people,” she reflected. Nick told his parents after his diagnosis, “God picked me to have cancer because he knows we’re a strong family and we can beat this, no problem.” His parents asked him why he works so hard in school when they’re more than happy with passing grades: “I have to work hard so I can go to Penn State.” 1:25 p.m. The Dominique Bigler family takes the stage. The family has come to THON since 2009. Dominique passed away in 2009. Her family read the notes she wrote during her battle with cancer. “I want to tell you how cancer changed my life, so why not write about the good things?” her mother read. “I was 13 years old and scared out of my mind, but there was no way I was going to let anyone know. So I tried to be brave.” “Let’s keep dancing until we find a cure and no other family has to hear, ‘your child has cancer.’ We love you Dominique.” 1:10 p.m. THON is playing its “Where are they now?” video. The first former THON child featured was accepted to Penn State in the fall. As each survivor’s story comes on screen, the crowd goes wild. Current THON dancer Brady Lucas is among those featured. Between slides, the video showed the Walt Disney quote, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” 1:08 p.m. The procession comes to an end. “We are in need for a cure, and you’re all helping right now.” 12:54 p.m. The Kayla Nakonechni family took the stage in purple to loud cheers from all. 12:51 p.m. The Four Diamonds families are announced one-by-one as the BJC gives their supportive applause. 12:49 p.m. Family hour is underway. 12:45 p.m. THON dancers demonstrated their favorite stretches from the weekend. 12:40 p.m. Khloe Kardashian tweeted her support for THON’s dancers. 12:38 p.m. Last one! 2016 DANCER RELATIONS CAPTAINS! Last one before the final four begins. This time the captains did two, one with the boys and the other with the girls. 1:23 a.m. Meet former THON child Joe Martin. He’s back in the BJC 25-years later, cancer free. “You know, how much has changed. I came back to the Bryce Jordan Center and I cried because of how big it’s gotten. And it’s amazing, and in the same token, it was a reminder of everything that I had lived through.” 11:09 a.m. The jump ropers are back and the crows is going crazy. 10:58 a.m. DANCER RELATIONS CAPTAINS TO THE STAGE! 10:55 a.m. If you’ve never been down to the THON floor we took a video to show you exactly what it feels like. 10:49 a.m. We talked to concession stand managers to see how they keep the BJC fed. “This weekend has been incredible because I’ve gotten to know a lot of the people I work with so much better.” 10:30 a.m. Kevin Negandhi gave THON a shoutout on the morning edition of SportsCenter. “To watch what those kids are doing, I think it’s pretty cool that they pack the Bryce Jordan Center and there’s a ton of support for the 700 selected kids who push forward. One of the things I noted on my take was it’s a year-round thing, not just something that takes 48 hours of standing up. You’re soliciting donations, you’re reaching out to people and building relationships, you’re asking for support. That shows a full commitment from the group that takes place in THON.” 10:21 a.m. If you can’t be on the floor with your dancer, here’s how DRCMs keep people connected. 10:13 a.m. Speaking of line dances… With the final four hours of THON 2016 nigh, all of the traditions associated with the last few hours are almost upon us, including four years of line dances. 9:57 a.m. DANCER RELATIONS CAPTAINS, DO YOUR THING. 9:47 a.m. And your THON 2016 Color Wars winner is………..PURPLE! Orange came in second while blue and red tied for third place. 9:38 a.m. Sorry section 103. To prepare for the final four hours the hours located in the section were forced to relocate. Last we checked it was Penn State Berks, Women’s Club Basketball, Penn State Cru, Rugby, RUF, and SWE. 9:06 a.m. The Color Wars Grand Finale is underway. Dancers have one last chance to earn as many points as possible for their team before the winner is announced. 9:05 a.m. Slides of Strength are nice, but GIANT Slides of Strength are even better. Dancers are getting a much-needed baby powder rub-down in the middle of the floor now. 8:58 a.m. Speaking of the line dance, it’s that time again. They weren’t picked to be on the floor all 46, but that isn’t stopping their fight FTK. 5:56 a.m. JaDhoom danced its way through an energetic performance before 14-year-old Hannah Richardson blew the crowd away with a powerful rendition of “We Are The Champions.” 5:48 a.m. Black Tie Stereo played a host of fan favorites in its set. 5:40 a.m. Dancer relations captains, to the stage! 5:31 a.m. We had another water social, as hydration will play a huge role down the stretch. 5:21 a.m. The BJC hit capacity again early Sunday morning, so take that into consideration if you want to get in on Sunday. 5:15 a.m. We toured the BJC and found the best leggings THON attendees have to offer. 4:30 a.m. Black Tie Stereo rocked the BJC with eclectic hits as well as Penn State favorites like Sweet Caroline. 4:23 a.m. As we enter the wee hours of the morning, here’s how to keep your clothes feeling fresh and clean.
